Azerbaijan, Oman explore bilateral relations UPDATED

15 April 2024 17:14

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, during a meeting held as part of a working visit to Uzbekistan on April 15.

The meeting served as a platform to delve into the realms of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Oman, with a focus on various spheres of potential cooperation, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.

The talks encompassed a wide range of sectors, including the economy, trade, energy, tourism, water resources management, and healthcare. Both sides expressed eagerness to explore avenues for collaboration in these areas, recognizing the mutual benefits that such partnerships can bring.

An important highlight of the discussions was the decision to establish an Azerbaijani embassy in Oman, a move anticipated to inject new vigor into the evolving relationship between the two nations. This step towards diplomatic representation is seen as a significant milestone in strengthening ties and fostering closer cooperation.

Additionally, with Azerbaijan set to host the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change later this year, both countries identified this event as an opportunity to further enhance their collaboration. The COP29, scheduled to take place in Baku, offers a platform for discussions on climate change and sustainability, providing an additional avenue for Azerbaijan and Oman to deepen their engagement.
