Azerbaijan parliament commission examines information campaign from Türkiye

The Milli Majlis Commission on Countering External Interference and Hybrid Threats has examined an information campaign launched in recent days against Azerbaijan from Türkiye.

The commission said its monitoring had identified the campaign’s aim as undermining the friendly, fraternal and allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, misleading the public, fostering distrust among citizens toward the state and its institutions, and intensifying polarisation within society, Caliber.Az reports per the parliament. 

“The campaign is being conducted in a coordinated manner using targeted advertising and both real and fake social media accounts. Unfortunately, in Azerbaijani and Turkish societies—which have always adhered to the principle of ‘one nation, two states’—certain individuals have fallen for this insidious campaign. And although such actions entail legal liability under the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, the campaign is still ongoing,” the statement said.

The parliament also added that information about the participants in this coordinated information campaign will be forwarded to the relevant government agencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

“We urge the citizens of Azerbaijan and our brothers in Türkiye to remain vigilant and not to be misled by disinformation,” the statement reads.
