Azerbaijan participates in 70th UN commission on status of women session PHOTO
The 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) opened at the United Nations headquarters in New York, focusing on the theme “Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls."
Azerbaijan is represented by a delegation led by Bahar Muradova, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Affairs. The session brings together UN member state agencies dealing with women’s issues, as well as civil society representatives and non-governmental organisations, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The programme includes general discussions, a ministerial roundtable, and several international side events. A joint statement will be delivered on behalf of the Organization of Turkic States, and Muradova is scheduled to address the session on behalf of Azerbaijan.
Other planned events include initiatives organized by the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Türkiye’s Ministry of Family and Social Services, and Serbia, as well as sessions promoting women’s leadership and gender equality in ECO member states.
Within the framework of CSW70, Azerbaijan will also host a side event titled “Empowerment of Women in ASEM (Asia–Europe) Countries."
