Azerbaijan partners with US platform Plug and Play to boost startups
The Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA) of Azerbaijan is launching a partnership with Plug and Play, a global innovation platform headquartered in the United States, as it seeks to expand local startups’ access to international markets, investors and mentorship networks.
Under the agreement, the two sides aim to connect Azerbaijani startups with global acceleration programmes, major technology firms and international investors, including those linked to Silicon Valley, Caliber.Az reports via IRIA.
The partnership is also expected to enhance the international integration of Azerbaijan’s innovation ecosystem.
The cooperation will be implemented in two main directions. A dedicated platform will be created for startups to offer technological solutions tailored to specific sectors, while a hybrid programme will be launched, culminating in participation at the Plug and Play Summit in Silicon Valley.
Chairman of IDDA’s Management Board, Farid Osmanov, said the initiative would open up wider opportunities for local innovators.
“Through our cooperation with Plug and Play, startups will gain broader access to the global innovation ecosystem — including investor networks, acceleration programs, and mentorship support,” he said.
Plug and Play operates in more than 60 locations worldwide and partners with over 550 corporate and public-sector organisations, with activities spanning more than 25 industries.
