Azerbaijan presents graduate of Italian naval academy with “Navy Dirk” honour Video

Lieutenant Guglielmo De Simone, a distinguished graduate of the Italian Naval Academy in Livorno, has been honoured with a Navy Dirk in recognition of his academic achievements by a representative of the Military Attaché of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Italy.

The official conveyed the gift on behalf of the Commander of the Azerbaijani Navy, Caliber.Az reports via Azerbaijan's Defence Ministry. 

The ceremony is part of ongoing military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy, particularly in the field of naval personnel education.

This exchange, in accordance with a Protocol of Intent signed between the two countries' defence ministries, aims to strengthen bilateral ties and promote mutual recognition of excellence in military training.

According to the provisions of the Protocol of Intent, an officer who graduates with honours from the Navy faculty of the Heydar Aliyev Military Institute operating under the National Defence University is presented with the "Students’ Sword of Honour" along with a certificate signed on behalf of the Chief of Staff of the Italian Navy by the Military Attaché of the Republic of Italy in Azerbaijan.
