Azerbaijan promises Garabagh Armenians better living conditions MFA spox Hajizada talks to Al Jazeera
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesman Aykhan Hajizada gave an interview to Al Jazeera international TV company. Caliber.Az presents excerpts from this interview.
"We have witnessed the resettlement of some Armenians from the region, but I would like to note that about 30 years ago Azerbaijanis left the region after being subjected to killings and many atrocities committed against them," he said.
Azerbaijan has appealed to the Armenian population to reintegrate into Azerbaijani society in accordance with the Constitution and legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the spokesman added.
He went on to say that Azerbaijan has launched a reintegration programme that covers the administrative, economic and social spheres.
"We believe that Armenians should be part of the reintegration process. Azerbaijan will provide loans and social benefits to local Armenians," Hajizada noted.
"We promise the Armenians of Garabagh better living conditions than they had when they were under the rule of the military junta established in the territories of Azerbaijan.
We believe that peace in the region is possible with the real support of respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries - Armenia and Azerbaijan," Aykhan Hajizada said.
