Azerbaijan pushes for equal application of international law at UN meeting
Azerbaijan continues to advocate for the equal and consistent application of the UN Charter and international law to all countries, according to Magsad Huseynov, First Secretary of Azerbaijan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations.
According to local media, he delivered the message during an Arria-formula meeting held at the UN Security Council. The session, titled “Ensuring the Inviolability of Treaties to Maintain International Peace and Security,” was organised by Pakistan’s permanent mission.
In his address, Huseynov stressed that states must honour their international commitments in good faith. He also underscored that lasting peace requires the reconstruction of cities damaged by conflict, the clearance of landmines and unexploded ordnance, the safe return of forcibly displaced people, and the restoration of biodiversity in affected areas.
Concluding his remarks, the diplomat reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s resolve to continue pursuing consistent efforts to enhance peace, security, and stability both in the region and beyond. He also emphasised the country’s commitment to strengthening international and regional partnerships and cooperation.
