Azerbaijan, Qatar engage in talks on defence cooperation Within DIMDEX-2024 exhibition

The 8th International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX-2024) kicked off in the Qatari capital Doha on March 5, drawing high-ranking officials and defence industry representatives from around the globe.

Among the distinguished participants, a delegation led by Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Defence Industry, Hidayat Azimov, actively engaged in discussions to explore potential partnerships and collaborations, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ministry of Defence Industry.

Azimov was present at the opening ceremony of DIMDEX-2024. During the event, Azimov seized the opportunity to hold a crucial meeting with Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Khalid bin Mohammad Al-Attiyah. The discussions focused on identifying avenues for strengthened cooperation in the defence industry between Azerbaijan and Qatar.

The talks, characterized by a friendly and collaborative spirit, delved into potential joint projects, technology transfers, and joint initiatives that could enhance the capabilities of both nations in the realm of defence. Both sides expressed optimism about the prospect of fostering a robust partnership.

Following the meeting with Al-Attiyah, Deputy Minister Azimov engaged in discussions with Haluk Gergun, the head of the Turkish Defence Industry Committee. Additionally, meetings with the leadership of prominent Turkish defence companies, Makina ve Kimya Endüstri and Repkon, were conducted. The dialogues during these sessions revolved around exploring opportunities for collaboration, technological advancements, and mutual benefit in the defence industry.

The DIMDEX-2024 exhibition, spanning diverse sectors including communications equipment, diving gear, helicopters, patrol aircraft, missiles, navigation systems, submarines, torpedoes, and unmanned aerial vehicles, is slated to continue until March 6. The event serves as a significant platform for fostering international cooperation and innovation within the defence industry.
