Azerbaijan Railways, OSCE forge path toward greener, smarter transport links
Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY), Rovshan Rustamov, met with OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioğlu to explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics.
The meeting took place at the Baku International Sea Trade Port and focused on Azerbaijan’s growing role as a key player in regional and international transportation networks, Caliber.Az reports.
The discussions were held within the framework of Azerbaijan’s strategic initiative titled “Promoting green ports and connectivity in the Caspian Sea region”.
During the meeting, the OSCE delegation was briefed in detail on the transport and logistics potential of Azerbaijan, including the country’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure and green transformation in port operations.
Rustamov highlighted that the integration of the Baku Port and Azerbaijan Railways under ongoing reform initiatives is a significant step toward enhancing the nation’s transit capabilities. This integration is expected not only to boost Azerbaijan’s competitiveness along major international transit corridors but also to increase the efficiency of cargo movement across the region.
The sides underlined the strategic importance of jointly implemented initiatives in strengthening Azerbaijan’s position as a vital Eurasian transport hub. They also noted that such collaboration would contribute to the broader goals of regional sustainability, economic development, and international connectivity.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding of the importance of deepening dialogue and expanding joint efforts to advance green, efficient, and secure transport corridors throughout the Caspian region and beyond.
