Azerbaijan Railways, Stadler Rail Group to create Regional Service Centre
Azerbaijan Railways Company (ADY) and Swiss rolling stock giant Stadler Rail Group signed on October 23 an agreement for the creation of a Regional Service Centre in Baku.
Caliber.Az reports, citing the press service of ADY, that the facility will serve as a one-stop shop for the repair of rolling stock. Field-related consulting services will also be available at the centre.
According to the document signed by the ADY Chairman Rovshan Rustamov and the Vice President of Stadler Rail Group Benjamin Niederhauser, the Regional Service Center will be built on the territory of the suburb Boyukshor settlement.
This centre will carry out repairs and maintenance of almost all types of vehicles manufactured by Stadler, currently operated by ADY across Azerbaijan. At the same time, the centre will provide support and consulting services to ADY in improving its expertise in repairing all types of locomotives.
The creation of a top-notch enterprise on the territory of Azerbaijan will make it possible to carry out large-scale repairs of Stadler-made rolling stock in the region, which is also operated in neighbouring countries.
ADY has been using double-decker electric trains of the KISS brand procured from Stadler Rail Group in 2015. At the moment, nine electric trains of the KISS brand are in operation on the railways of Azerbaijan.
