Azerbaijan reaffirms support for Palestine at OIC Coordination Meeting

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s support for Palestine’s statehood and called for greater solidarity among Islamic countries in addressing rising Islamophobia and violence against Muslim communities worldwide.

Bayramov made the remarks while addressing the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Coordination Meeting on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

The minister congratulated Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on assuming his duties as the new OIC Secretary-General and stressed the importance of strengthening solidarity in response to growing Islamophobia.

Bayramov also expressed deep concern over the escalation of military conflicts in the region, calling for intensified diplomatic efforts and coordinated OIC action to counter discrimination and violence targeting Muslim communities around the world.

During the meeting, the Azerbaijani foreign minister also outlined institutional preparations for the OIC Summit, which is scheduled to be held in Azerbaijan in 2027.
