Azerbaijan records increase in non-oil exports
Azerbaijan's overall exports amounted to $15.4 billion from January to May 2022, with $1.2 billion being recorded in the non-oil sector.
Compared to the same period of 2021, exports in the country’s non-oil sector rose by $280.6 million, or 30.9 per cent, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications.
In the first 4 months of this year, the export of fruits and vegetables increased by 6.4 per cent compared to the same period last year and amounted to $219.2 million. During the reporting period, the export of chemical products increased 8 times, aluminium and related products - by 2 times, ferrous metals and products made of them - by 49.8 per cent, cotton yarn - by 23.7 per cent, and cotton fibre - by 14.5 per cent.
In May 2022, exports amounted to $3.6 billion, with exports in the non-oil sector increasing by 5.7 per cent to $222.4 million. In May 2022, food exports amounted to $66.4 million, while non-food exports increased by 24.7 per cent to $156 million.
