Azerbaijan remains stable market for Georgian products
The Georgian National Statistics Service has announced that Azerbaijan emerged as Georgia's second-largest export partner.
In January 2025, Georgia's total exports surged by 19.3 per cent, reaching a total value of $403.9 million. Azerbaijan accounted for $46.2 million of this amount, making it a key trading partner for Georgia, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states continued playing a dominant role in Georgia's export market, with the region accounting for 64.2 per cent of total exports in January 2025. Despite this positive growth, Georgia saw a decline in exports to several major markets, including Russia, Türkiye, and China. However, Azerbaijan remains a stable and important market for Georgian products, offering consistent demand amidst the challenges faced in other regions.
The steady relationship between Georgia and Azerbaijan highlights the strong economic ties between the two countries, underscoring Azerbaijan's importance as a vital export destination for Georgian goods.
Azerbaijan and Georgia share a longstanding and robust relationship, underpinned by strong economic, political, and cultural ties. The strategic partnership is particularly evident in areas such as energy, trade, infrastructure, and regional security.
Azerbaijan is one of Georgia's most important trade partners, and the two nations collaborate closely on energy projects, including the Southern Gas Corridor, which delivers Caspian natural gas to Europe via Georgia. The countries also share a commitment to regional stability and security, often working together to address challenges in the South Caucasus. Over the years, Azerbaijan and Georgia have built a strong foundation of mutual trust and continue to foster deeper economic integration and political alignment.
