Azerbaijan, Israel explore expanded agricultural cooperation

12 January 2026 14:15

A delegation led by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture, Majnun Mammadov, is visiting Israel to strengthen bilateral ties in the agricultural sector. During the visit, the delegation is scheduled to tour leading research and development centres and participate in the "Sea of the Future" II Blue Food Security Global Summit.

On the first day, Azerbaijani and Israeli officials met at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Development of Israel. Israeli Minister Avi Dichter welcomed the delegation, expressing gratitude for Azerbaijan’s support for Israel’s food security during challenging periods, Caliber.Az reports via Azerbaijan's Agriculture Ministry.

Reflecting on his previous visit to Azerbaijan, Dichter noted that opportunities for agricultural cooperation between the two countries have expanded, highlighting potential collaboration in trade, modern technologies in animal husbandry and seed production, research programs, and irrigation expertise.

Minister Mammadov emphasised that Azerbaijan-Israel relations are developing dynamically across all sectors, with both countries eager to deepen agricultural cooperation. He noted that the Declaration of Intent on agricultural cooperation, signed in Baku two years ago, and the Road Map for agricultural cooperation have played key roles in advancing bilateral ties. \

The two sides also reached an initial agreement to further enhance the Road Map and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

Following the meeting, Minister Mammadov visited the Volcani Institute Agricultural Research Center, Israel’s main agricultural research institution. The delegation received detailed information on the center’s research programs in crop production, animal husbandry, plant protection, soil and environmental sciences, and food sciences.

Officials discussed potential collaboration between Azerbaijani and Israeli scientific research institutes and agricultural centers.
