More than 342,000 flights passed through Azerbaijani airspace in 2025, marking a 10.5% increase compared with the previous year and underscoring the country’s growing role as a regional aviation hub, Heydar Aliyev International Airport said in a statement.
According to the statement, Azerbaijan’s aviation sector maintained steady growth throughout 2025, driven by rising transit traffic and increased international confidence in the country’s air navigation infrastructure, Caliber.Az reports.
“The provision of air navigation services to more than 342,000 flights within the country’s airspace, representing a 10.5% increase compared to 2024, clearly demonstrates the reliability of the aviation infrastructure and the strengthening of Azerbaijan’s position as a regional transportation hub,” the statement said.
Air traffic peaked during the summer months, with a historic daily record set on August 9, 2025, when 1,101 flights were handled in a single day.
Transit flights accounted for 76% of total operations, exceeding 261,000 flights over the year. Transit traffic rose by around 14%, the statement said. Among the major international carriers using Azerbaijani airspace for transit operations were Turkish Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways and Lufthansa.
