Azerbaijan secures key leadership role in global renewable energy agency
Azerbaijan has been elected Vice President of the 17th Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), set to convene in 2027, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy announced.
Azerbaijan’s election took place during the 16th IRENA Assembly in Abu Dhabi, UAE, which finalized the nominations for the Chair and four Vice Presidents of the upcoming session, Caliber.Az reports.
Under principles of geographic representation and rotational leadership, South Korea was appointed Chair of the 17th Assembly on behalf of the “Asia and Pacific” regional group. Azerbaijan will represent the “Europe and Others” group, while the Comoros Islands represent Africa, Tonga represents Asia and the Pacific, and Grenada represents the Latin America and Caribbean group.
