Azerbaijan responds to US embassy’s provocative comments
Spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Aykhan Hajizada has responded to the US embassy in Azerbaijan.
“In a nutshell, to put all of this and the previous provocative comments by the US embassy in Azerbaijan, the intolerance to media freedom of the US side, which presents itself as an advocate of freedom of expression, is astonishing. Seems that the current US administration, by all means, is aiming at harming its foreign relations, in particular with Azerbaijan, focusing on imaginary and mythical claims,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Hajizada’s message on X.
Earlier, Hajizada accused the US organisations of spreading misinformation while presenting themselves as "honest and impartial."
Hajizada condemned the US for levelling "unfounded accusations" against Azerbaijan, a country that defends human rights in the international arena.
He pointed out that the US has frequently ignored the rights of many other groups, accusing the nation of practising double standards.
"The United States, which claims to be a protector of human rights, overlooks the rights of numerous people," Hajizada wrote.
"Criticism aimed at exerting pressure can only be effective if the critic’s intentions are pure and their moral principles high. Learning from past mistakes is a necessary condition for taking successful steps in the future," he added.
