Azerbaijan right venue for COP29 – minister

Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev has said that Azerbaijan is a suitable platform for COP29 and addressing topical problems of our time as he addressed the final plenary session of COP28 in Dubai.

"I am pleased to announce Azerbaijan's aspiration to host COP29 in Azerbaijan in 2024. Azerbaijan, with its rich cultural heritage and dynamic energy, will be a suitable venue for the global community to come together again to address the topical issues of our time," the minister said, Report informs.

Babayev expressed gratitude to the group of Eastern European countries for their decision to endorse Azerbaijan as a host country for COP29: "The valuable support from the group of countries once again reflects a shared commitment to unite our efforts to combat climate change and build a better future for all. Our commitment to sustainable development is not just a promise, but a reality reflected in our national policies and actions," the minister added.
