Azerbaijan, Russia discuss development of interregional ties
Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov has discussed issues of diversification of economic partnership and development of interregional ties with a delegation headed by Adviser to Russia’s President Ruslan Edelgeriev.
During their meeting in Baku, Jabbarov underlined the positive dynamics of the development of ties with Russia and noted the importance of intensifying partnership between the business circles of the countries in implementing economic potential, as well as strengthening trade and investment ties, Report informs.
The minister noted that the favourable business and investment environment in Azerbaijan, and the wide potential of the liberated (from Armenian occupation) territories open up new prospects for the development of regional cooperation, including the partnership with Russia.
He also called for Russian investors to take advantage of the transport and logistics opportunities of the Alat Free Economic Zone located at the crossroads of international corridors.
Having pointed out the special role of increasing the efficiency of transport links to increase bilateral trade turnover, Jabbarov drew attention to the importance of using the North-South international transport route.
For his part, Edelgeriev, expressing satisfaction with the visit to Azerbaijan, noted that Russia attaches special importance to the partnership with Azerbaijan, highlighted the role of increasing private sector activity in effective mutually beneficial development and shared the vision of unleashing economic potential.
Furthermore, the sides considered opportunities for the implementation of social and economic projects.
The parties also discussed the diversification of economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, the work needed to maintain the momentum of mutual trade, and the development of interregional relations and ties in tourism and other sectors.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Russian embassy and Trade Representation in Azerbaijan, as well as the Council of the regional branch of the All-Russian Public Children and Youth Movement "Movement of the First" in the Chechen Republic.
