Chief of the General Staff of Azerbaijani Army, Col-Gen Karim Valiyev, attended the latest session of the Council of Defence Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) held in Moscow on November 12.

According to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence, the meeting focused on the prospects for enhancing military cooperation among CIS member states, along with a range of other topics of mutual interest, Caliber.Az reports.

Notably, Azerbaijan's cooperation with the CIS in the military sphere focuses on enhancing regional security and bolstering its defence capabilities. As a CIS member, Azerbaijan participates in joint military exercises, defence agreements, and intelligence-sharing initiatives, aiming to improve interoperability and counter-terrorism efforts among member states.

The country also engages in military-technical cooperation, benefiting from access to training programs and defense technology exchanges that help modernize its armed forces. Additionally, Azerbaijan contributes to regional border security efforts, addressing challenges like drug trafficking and transnational threats.
