Azerbaijan's Defence Minister Zakir Hasanov holds service meeting
On July 29, a staff meeting was held under the leadership of Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, Azerbaijani Minister of Defence. The meeting was attended by deputy ministers, commanders of types of troops, heads of the ministry's main departments and directorates, as well as commanders of military associations.
Caliber.Az reports with reference to the Ministry of Defence that at first a minute of silence was observed in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and martyrs who gave their lives for the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
The Defence Minister informed the participants of the meeting of the tasks set by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the Azerbaijani Army.
Colonel-General Z.Hasanov stressed that the words of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev at the opening ceremony of the Global Media Forum in Shusha and during other speeches that the Azerbaijani Army has become even stronger than before arouse pride in each of us, inspire us to great achievements and at the same time increase the responsibility of the personnel.
The meeting analysed the current operational situation on the conditional Azerbaijani-Armenian border and in the Karabakh economic region, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily deployed.
Touching upon the recent increase in cases of use of radio jamming by illegal Armenian armed formations in the territory of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily deployed, against GPS satellite navigation systems of passenger aircraft of local and foreign airlines, flying using the airspace of our country, the minister gave relevant instructions to ensure the safety of aircraft.
In order to maintain a high level of professionalism, practical skills of servicemen and combat effectiveness of units, the importance of organising exercises conducted in cooperation between troops in accordance with the conditions of real combat, regular clarification of operational plans and paying special attention to improving the quality of exercises was stressed.
The meeting discussed the issues of combat training and comprehensive support of the troops in the new training period, a number of upcoming tasks were brought to the attention of the commanders of types of troops.
The importance of strict observance of safety rules and taking necessary fire-fighting measures in the performance of service and combat tasks was noted.
Then, reports were heard on the activities carried out in the Azerbaijani Army in the first half of this year in accordance with the plan approved by the Minister of Defence on implementation of the order of the President of Azerbaijan on declaring 2023 the "Year of Heydar Aliyev", instructions were given to relevant officials to continue activities in this direction.
The minister informed the command staff of his demands for the protection of military personnel from sunstroke in the summer season, strict control over their medical provision in accordance with the requirements of the season, and a sensitive attitude to the adaptation process of new recruits joining the service.
Noting the important role of improvement of service and combat and social conditions of servicemen in maintaining their morale at a high level, the minister gave additional instructions to continue systematic work in this direction, to show attention and care for the personnel.
At the meeting, it was instructed to pay special attention to the systematic implementation of engineering support measures in the liberated territories.
In conclusion, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov noted the importance of the meetings held within the framework of the 16th International Defence Industry Exhibition IDEF-23 in Istanbul and gave specific instructions for the personnel to master the weapons and combat equipment adopted into service, to study the firing capabilities of the Su-25 ML attack aircraft (upgraded "Lachin") and its effective use in carrying out combat missions.
