Azerbaijan's delegation attends high-tech defence expo in Vietnam PHOTO
On December 19, the 2nd International Defence Expo Vietnam Defence Expo 2024 opened in Hanoi, Vietnam, with a delegation from the Ministry of Defence Industry of Azerbaijan attending the official opening ceremony.
The event, held biennially under the auspices of Vietnam's Ministry of National Defence, showcases a wide range of military equipment, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
This includes various types of weapons, ammunition, air defence systems, naval equipment, drones, helicopters, communication and navigation systems, armoured vehicles, intelligence and electronic warfare tools, and much more.
To recall, the expo features nearly 250 exhibitors from 50 countries, including major defence firms from the United States, Europe, Türkiye, and beyond. Companies from geopolitical rivals such as Iran and Israel are also participating, underscoring Vietnam’s broad international engagement.
Historically, Vietnam has been a major importer of arms from Russia. However, the nation is now placing greater emphasis on developing its domestic defence industry and diversifying its sources of military equipment. This shift includes agreements with foreign arms manufacturers to produce components within Vietnam, enhancing local production and reducing dependency on traditional suppliers.
The exhibition showcases a wide range of advanced military technologies and equipment, such as fighter jets, helicopters, training aircraft, drones, air-to-air missiles, surface-to-air missiles, man-portable systems, and land-to-surface missiles, as well as a variety of naval and ground forces systems. The exhibition will run until December 22.
