Azerbaijan's delegation to UNESCO commemorates victims of Aktau plane crash
Permanent Delegation of Azerbaijan to UNESCO has opened a book of condolences to honor the victims of the tragic crash involving an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) passenger plane flying from Baku to Grozny, which went down near Aktau.
According to the Azerbaijan delegation, the book was made available to express solidarity and grief over the loss of lives in the crash, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Diplomats, ambassadors, and foreign officials accredited to UNESCO attended the representation to pay their tribute, leaving heartfelt messages in the book.
In a formal gesture of sympathy, a letter of condolence was sent to the Azerbaijani Delegation on behalf of Audrey Azoulay, the Director-General of UNESCO, and Simona- Miculescu, the President of the General Conference of UNESCO.
The crash occurred on December 25, when an Embraer aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, en route from Baku to Grozny, tragically crashed near Aktau. The plane was carrying 67 people, including 37 Azerbaijanis, 16 Russians, 6 Kazakhs, and 3 Kyrgyz nationals. 38 people lost their lives in the crash, with 29 survivors.
