18 February 2025 17:27

Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, met with Sunnia Durrani-Jamal, the Country Director for Azerbaijan at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to outline key priorities and areas for collaboration in the coming years.

In a post on the social media platform X, Jabbarov detailed the discussions, which focused on Azerbaijan’s medium-term socio-economic development goals and investment strategies, as well as the forthcoming ADB Country Partnership Strategy for 2025–2029, Caliber.Az reports.

"During our meeting with Sunnia Durrani-Jamal, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Azerbaijan, we reviewed the country’s medium-term priorities for socio-economic development and investment promotion, as well as the key areas to be covered under ADB’s Country Partnership Strategy (2025–2029)," Jabbarov said.

Commenting further, minister noted that, "in the coming years, Azerbaijan's cooperation with ADB will focus on supporting a sustainable and diversified economy, fostering green growth, enhancing the private sector, developing human capital, advancing digitalization, and promoting business solutions aligned with climate challenges."

The ADB’s support is seen as a vital component in the country’s ambition to modernize its economy and develop more sustainable infrastructure, positioning Azerbaijan as a regional leader in economic transformation.

Meanwhile, on February 17, Azerbaijani Deputy Economy Minister Samad Bashirli and Enrico Pinali, the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) Regional Director for Private Sector Development, recently discussed proposals for public-private partnership (PPP) projects across various sectors.

The meeting, held at Azerbaijan's Ministry of Economy, focused on ADB’s project proposals in areas such as energy, environment, infrastructure, transit, logistics, and digital development. The importance of continued collaboration between Azerbaijan and the ADB in advancing these PPP initiatives was emphasized.
