Azerbaijan’s energy partnership with bp focuses on decarbonization, growth
Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister, Mikayil Jabbarov, held an important meeting with Gordon Birrell, bp’s Executive Vice President for Production and Operations, to discuss the future of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the energy company.
The meeting, which also included SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf, focused on a range of issues, including the expansion of BP's activities in Azerbaijan, as well as strategies to enhance the existing partnership, Caliber.Az reports.
Minister Jabbarov took to his official X page to share details of the conversation, highlighting the long-standing and fruitful collaboration between the two parties.

“Together with Rovshan Najaf, President of SOCAR, we had a meeting with Gordon Birrell, bp's Executive Vice-President for Production and Operations. During the discussions, we expressed our satisfaction with the enduring and fruitful collaboration between Azerbaijan and bp. We discussed bp’s operations in Azerbaijan, outlined new partnership priorities, and explored opportunities for advancing joint decarbonization efforts," Jabbarov posted.
The discussions come at a time when Azerbaijan is increasingly focused on diversifying its energy sector and investing in sustainable technologies. bp, a key player in the country’s oil and gas sector, remains a pivotal partner in Azerbaijan’s energy landscape.
