Azerbaijan’s FM advances multilateral agenda at ESCAP session in Bangkok PHOTO

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, chaired the 82nd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (United Nations ESCAP) held in Bangkok under the theme “Leave No One Behind: Advancing Society for All Ages in Asia and the Pacific.”

At the opening of the session, a written address from Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev was delivered by Bayramov, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs writes on X.

During the meeting, Azerbaijan stressed the importance of strengthening regional cooperation to address shared development challenges and ensure that economic and social progress benefits all segments of society.

The delegation outlined national priorities centred on inclusive growth, digital transformation, green energy transition, regional connectivity, peacebuilding and South-South cooperation.

Officials also presented Azerbaijan’s long-term development framework, “Azerbaijan 2030,” highlighting goals such as expanding equal access to education and healthcare, improving digital public services and promoting intergenerational equality.

Particular emphasis was placed on the strategic role of the Middle Corridor in enhancing Eurasian transport and trade connectivity.

A key outcome of the session was the adoption of the Baku–Bangkok Declaration on promoting social development for all ages across Asia and the Pacific, signalling a shared commitment to more inclusive and sustainable regional policies aligned with ESCAP’s agenda.

The session brought together senior representatives from member states, UN agencies and international organisations to advance cooperation on inclusive growth, social equity and sustainable development.

Azerbaijan reiterated its commitment to multilateral engagement and to deepening ties with Asia-Pacific partners, framing its approach around solidarity, innovation and shared responsibility in pursuit of a more interconnected and resilient regional order.
