Azerbaijan’s Global Media Group arranges training on language of sustainability in media In partnership with UN Global Compact
Global Media Group, one of Azerbaijan's largest media holdings, organized a training session on "The Language of Sustainability in Media" in collaboration with the UN Global Compact, as part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two organizations.
The event, held in the Green Zone of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, aimed to strengthen Global Media Group's engagement with international sustainability platforms, raise awareness about climate change, and educate media representatives on the importance of sustainability in media coverage, Caliber.Az reports.
The speaker at the event, Wynne Boelt, Head of Communications at UN Global Compact, shared valuable insights from his international experience and underscored the media’s pivotal role in addressing climate change.
"The media plays an essential role in informing the public, especially on climate issues," Boelt emphasized.
"By highlighting critical sustainability challenges, the media helps raise public awareness and drives collective action for a sustainable future. Global Media Group's efforts in this area are significant, not just for Azerbaijan but for advancing global sustainability goals," he added.
Elnur Abdullayev, Chairman of the Board of Global Media Group, also addressed the event, reaffirming the company’s commitment to sustainable development. "This training underscores our dedication to sustainability and reinforces our role in promoting a green future. Global Media Group is determined to raise awareness about sustainability, both within our organization and in society, through educational initiatives," Abdullayev noted.
