Azerbaijan's high-level delegation visits Guinea-Bissau to explore new cooperation opportunities
From April 6 to 7, a high-level government delegation from Azerbaijan, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, visited Guinea-Bissau to highlight the potential for expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation was warmly received by Guinea-Bissau's President, Umaro Sissoco Embalo, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
In addition to meeting the president, the delegation held discussions with Prime Minister Rui Duarte de Barros and Foreign Minister Carlos Pinto Pereira.
The Azerbaijani delegation also met with Guinea-Bissau’s Minister of Economy, Planning, and Regional Integration, Soares Sambú, and engaged with key officials from various ministries. These included representatives from departments responsible for environmental protection, biodiversity, natural resources, agriculture, and defense.
Additionally, officials from the Petroguin national oil company participated in the discussions. Azerbaijan and Guinea-Bissau highlighted the potential for expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, including oil and gas, green energy, agriculture, fisheries, and in the humanitarian and educational fields.
The visit concluded with the first round of political consultations between the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Communities of Guinea-Bissau, laying the groundwork for further collaboration between the two countries.
