Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has honoured the courage and sacrifice of its servicemen and police officers ahead of Victory Day on November 8, as events across the country and abroad mark the fifth anniversary of the end of the 2020 Patriotic War.
The Ministry held a commemorative ceremony on November 7, bringing together servicemen of the Internal Troops and police officers who took part in the Patriotic War, Caliber.Az reports.

During the ceremony, a congratulatory message from Interior Minister Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov was read out to the ministry’s personnel on the occasion of Victory Day and National Flag Day. The message praised the bravery and courage demonstrated by members of the Internal Troops and police officers during the war.

The ministry reported that 66 personnel lost their lives in the fighting, while 346 others were wounded. Four servicemen were awarded the title of “Hero of the Patriotic War,” and hundreds received state orders and medals for their service.

The ceremony concluded with the screening of a documentary film titled “Zəfər meydanı” (“Victory Square”), dedicated to the heroism of the war’s participants.
