Azerbaijan's Parliament backs military security pact between Baku, Ankara

Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) took a key step toward strengthening military cooperation with Türkiye, as a draft law ratifying a bilateral security memorandum was approved in its first reading.

During a plenary session of the Milli Majlis, lawmakers debated the draft law on the ratification of the “Memorandum on Strengthening Mutual Military Security between the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of National Defence of Türkiye,” Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The memorandum was signed on July 22, 2025, in Istanbul by the defence ministers of Azerbaijan and Türkiye.

Following the debate, the draft law was put to a vote and adopted in its first reading.
