Azerbaijan's Parliament condemns some MEPs’ visit to Armenia
The Azerbaijani Parliament’s International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Committee has condemned the visit of some members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to Armenia.
In its statement, the Azerbaijani parliament expressed protest and concern about the provocative actions of MEPs Nicolas Bay, Marion Maréchal-Le Pen and Vincenzo Sofo due to the establishment of direct relations with representatives of the former separatist regime, who abolished their organisations and fled Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region, APA reports.
“Such a behaviour of MEPs, which has become a trend, not only is unacceptable but is also aimed at undermining the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia at the first stage. These destructive forces, pursuing their own benefit, want to again drag our region into war and chaos. We demand the leader of the European Parliament not only properly assess this subversive activity in the region, but also stop using humanitarian issues for political and subversive purposes, and also not interfere in the internal affairs of the South Caucasus, harming the peace process,” the statement says.
