Azerbaijan’s support for Ukraine reconstruction highlighted ahead of WUF
The upcoming 13th session of the World Urban Forum 13 in Baku is expected to serve as a key platform for discussions on sustainable urban development and the reconstruction of cities affected by conflict, including in Ukraine, Jalal Huseynov, head of the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani business association “Terezi” said.
He noted that the issue of rebuilding Ukrainian cities has moved beyond theory and become an urgent practical challenge, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“For Ukraine, urban reconstruction is no longer merely theoretical but has taken on a practical dimension,” Huseynov said, adding that international assistance is increasingly being transformed into concrete projects on the ground.
He highlighted Azerbaijan’s contribution to reconstruction efforts in the Ukrainian city of Irpin, noting that Azerbaijani support has already helped restore social infrastructure, including a high school and a city clinic.
“This demonstrates that cooperation between our countries can have not only a humanitarian dimension but also a long-term economic and infrastructural one,” he said.
According to Huseynov, international forums such as WUF13 provide an important opportunity for governments, municipalities, businesses, and investors to coordinate future rebuilding initiatives and infrastructure partnerships for Ukraine.
“It is extremely important today to begin forming international partnerships and cooperation that will be able to participate in future infrastructure and investment projects in Ukraine,” he added.
