09 April 2026 12:27

A delegation led by Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC), has travelled to Hungary to observe the country’s parliamentary elections scheduled for April 12.

According to the CEC, the visit is taking place at the invitation of Attila Nagy, head of the Hungarian National Election Office, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

During the visit, Panahov is expected to hold meetings with his Hungarian counterpart, senior officials, and representatives of election management bodies from other countries participating in the observation mission.

The discussions will focus on exchanging expertise in electoral administration, as well as exploring prospects for expanding co-operation on issues of mutual interest.

Members of the Azerbaijani delegation will also familiarise themselves with pre-election preparations in Budapest and observe the voting process at polling stations on election day.

The CEC is additionally represented within the observation mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
