Azerbaijan’s top Muslim cleric slams Armenian Church, diaspora for destructive propaganda PHOTO
The Armenian Church and diaspora are conducting destructive propaganda in an effort to undermine peace initiatives between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO), Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazada said.
Pashazada made the remarks as he met with a delegation led by Marc Schneier, President of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding (FFEU), noting that despite the Azerbaijani and Armenian political leadership working constructively toward peace, the Armenian Church and diaspora are actively trying to derail the process, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Pashazada emphasised that the spiritual mission of religious leaders before the Almighty is to serve peace.
He also briefed the delegation on the ongoing large-scale reconstruction and restoration process in Azerbaijan’s territories recently liberated from occupation, adding that the Great Return is actively underway.
In turn, Marc Schneier highlighted the contributions of the Azerbaijani state and its religious leaders to the promotion of intercultural dialogue worldwide, emphasising the significance of international forums hosted by Azerbaijan that regularly bring together prominent religious figures.
