Azerbaijan seeks membership in Asian financial cooperation association

The Azerbaijan Banking Association (ABA) has officially applied for membership in the Asian Financial Cooperation Association (AFCA), signaling a step toward deeper financial ties with Asia.

The signing ceremony for the application took place during an official visit by ABA leadership to China. The delegation was led by ABA President Zakir Nuriyev and included representatives from Azerbaijan’s major banks, Caliber.Az reports per ABA. 

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the strategic importance of collaboration between their financial institutions. They agreed to implement joint projects and expand the exchange of expertise and information, the ABA said.

Preliminary discussions also explored the possibility of Azerbaijan hosting a future international event organized by AFCA, an initiative expected to strengthen regional financial cooperation. The meeting concluded with talks on additional areas of mutual interest.
