Azerbaijan sends another batch of humanitarian aid to Ukraine

09 June 2023 18:45

Azerbaijan sends another batch of humanitarian aid to Ukraine on June 9.

The humanitarian cargo is being sent by plane from Baku to Poland, and from there it will be delivered to Ukraine, Report informs.

The humanitarian aid consists of water pipes, water pumps, life jackets and other supplies to help the region affected by the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) Dam

Since the war in Ukraine unfolded in February 2022, the Azerbaijani government has provided around $20 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war.

In January 2023, Azerbaijan sent 50 power generators worth $450,000 to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian representative office of Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company (SOCAR Energy Ukraine) provides emergency medical aid and fire engines with free fuel as humanitarian aid.

A major dam in southern Ukraine collapsed on June 6, flooding villages, endangering crops and threatening drinking water supplies as both sides in the war scrambled to evacuate residents and blamed each other for the destruction.

Ukraine accused Russian forces of blowing up the Kakhovka dam and hydroelectric power station, which sits on the Dnieper River in an area Moscow has controlled for more than a year. Russian officials blamed Ukrainian bombardment in the contested area, where the river separates the two sides.
