Azerbaijan sends delegation to monitor Kyrgyzstan’s November 30 elections
A delegation led by Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan, has arrived in Kyrgyzstan for an official visit.
According to the Azerbaijani CEC, cited by domestic media, the visit is taking place at the invitation of Tynchtyk Shainazarov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan, and will involve participation as international observers in the snap parliamentary elections scheduled for November 30.
Prior to the election, the Azerbaijani delegation is expected to familiarise themselves with the general election preparations. On election day, they will monitor voting procedures at polling stations to ensure transparency and adherence to electoral standards.
As part of the visit, Panahov and the delegation will also take part in the second session of the Advisory Platform of the Election Management Bodies of the member states of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS), which will be held in Bishkek on November 28.
The session will focus on developing institutional cooperation in election administration and exploring opportunities to further strengthen ties among member states.
Additionally, Panahov is scheduled to meet with his Kyrgyz counterpart, leaders of election management bodies from OTS member countries, representatives of international organisations accredited as election observers, and other officials. Discussions will cover prospects for deepening inter-agency cooperation, new opportunities for collaboration in various election-related areas, and other issues of mutual interest.
Azerbaijani CEC representatives are also participating in international observation missions organised by the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States, the OTS, the OSCE/ODIHR, and the CIS during Kyrgyzstan’s snap parliamentary elections.
