Azerbaijan sets sights on South Korea’s digital tax innovations for reform PHOTO
Azerbaijan is aiming to draw on South Korea’s advanced experience in digital tax technologies, as part of a broader effort to modernise its tax administration system.
The initiative was discussed during a meeting between Sarhan Gashimov, Acting Head of the Training Centre of the State Tax Service under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy, and Kang Minsoo, Commissioner of South Korea’s National Tax Service. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the Inter-American Centre of Tax Administrations (CIAT), held in Chile, Caliber.Az reports.
Both sides exchanged views on deepening bilateral cooperation, sharing best practices, and exploring opportunities to adopt South Korea’s digital tax innovations.
"The meeting included an exchange of views on expanding cooperation between the tax authorities of both countries, organising knowledge-sharing initiatives, and exploring South Korea’s expertise in digital tax system implementation," the official statement noted.
Kang Minsoo also announced his upcoming visit to Baku for the General Assembly of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA), scheduled for June 17–19, underscoring continued dialogue between the two countries on tax governance and reform.
