Azerbaijan showcases diplomatic valor by hosting COP29

At the closing ceremony of the Caspian Basin Research Programme at ADA University, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department under the Presidential Administration, emphasized the significance of hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan.

He portrayed this decision as a bold display of the nation's diplomatic and political resolve, Report says.

The event drew delegates from diverse nations such as Croatia, Hungary, Moldova, Egypt, Nepal, Jordan, Kuwait, Turkey, Brazil, and others, underscoring Azerbaijan's growing global engagement. Against the backdrop of Azerbaijan's successful liberation of Karabakh from occupation, Hajiyev highlighted the country's foreign policy trajectory and geopolitical identity. He underscored the pivotal role of Azerbaijan, strategically positioned at the intersection of North-South and East-West transport routes, in fostering economic partnerships.

In his address, Hajiyev lauded the hosting of COP29 as a testament to Azerbaijan's commitment to green energy transition and its readiness to engage diplomatically on pressing global issues. During the interactive session, he fielded inquiries from participants, further enriching the discourse.

Ambassador Hafiz Pashayev, Rector of ADA University, emphasized the significance of the Caspian Basin Studies program as a platform not only for showcasing ADA University but also for projecting Azerbaijan's profile on the global stage.

As the ceremony concluded, certificates were presented to participants representing 18 countries, symbolizing the fruitful exchange of ideas and expertise. A commemorative photo captured the spirit of collaboration and shared aspirations for a sustainable future.

Throughout the program, participants had the opportunity to explore cultural landmarks such as the Juma Mosque, Congress Centre, and Martyrs Alley in Aghdam, gaining insights into Azerbaijan's rich heritage and ongoing restoration efforts.
