Azerbaijan presents innovation strategy at WIPO assembly
Azerbaijan has presented an innovation strategy during the 68th session of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland.
A delegation headed by Kamran Imanov, chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan's Intellectual Property Agency, is taking part in the event both in person and online, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Addressing the session, Imanov stated that the development of Azerbaijan's intellectual property sector is being guided by the country's Socio-Economic Development Strategy, the Digital Development Concept and the Artificial Intelligence Strategy for 2025-2028.
He noted that intellectual property is becoming increasingly interdisciplinary and is playing a growing role in the development of the innovation ecosystem.
Imanov also stressed that institutional reforms implemented by the Azerbaijani president have transformed the Intellectual Property Agency into one of the key players in this process.
The agency's chairman also thanked the WIPO Secretariat for selecting the Azerbaijani agency as one of 15 intellectual property offices featured in the "Report of the Leaders of the Future."
According to Imanov, the agency currently operates the PƏNAH digital industrial property platform, which is integrated with WIPO's IPAS system and provides round-the-clock online registration services, 3D functionality, open registers, mobile access and accessibility features. He added that a digital copyright platform is also operating successfully.
Imanov further noted that the agency has developed an artificial intelligence advisory bot and is cooperating with the Eurasian Patent Organisation on AI-based solutions aimed at automating key stages of patent registration procedures.
