Azerbaijan, Slovakia discuss importance of initiatives to strengthen trade, economic ties
Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov has paid a working visit to the Slovak Republic.
During the visit, Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico received Jabbarov. The meetings were held with Slovakia's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Denisa Sakova, Speaker of the National Council Peter Ziga, Caliber.Az reports.
The expansion of ties in significant spheres was emphasised during the discussions. The importance of mutual visits, joint events, meetings and discussions in strengthening the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovakia was stressed.
The Slovak side was informed about the wide opportunities in Azerbaijan for effective partnership in various spheres, including trade, energy, investment sector, industry, humanitarian activity, as well as opportunities within the Alat Free Economic Zone.
The importance of initiatives to strengthen trade and economic ties between countries, as well as to increase mutual trade turnover, was stressed. The importance of exchanging information about export potential was emphasised.
The regional and global energy projects, in which Azerbaijan is an initiator and active participant, contribute to the energy supply of partner countries. The energy cooperation is one of the priorities of relations between Azerbaijan and Slovakia.
During the meetings, Slovakia’s officials were informed about favourable business situation in Azerbaijan, the opportunities created for investors, and the potential for implementing joint projects.
The sides considered the possibilities of developing energy, trade and investment cooperation and implementing joint projects, supporting initiatives in the industry, agriculture, tourism, innovation, joint actions for the transition to green energy, as well as Slovakia’s possible joining energy projects in which Azerbaijan is a participant.
