Azerbaijan, Slovakia mull exchange of best practices in military sphere PHOTO/VIDEO
On January 18, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov met with the delegation headed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the Slovak Republic Robert Kaliňák, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
In the Alley of Martyrs, the delegation visited the graves of servicemen who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Caliber.Az.
A wreath was laid in front of the Eternal Flame monument.
Afterwards, an official welcome ceremony took place at the MoD. The national anthems of both countries were played by the military orchestra and the Slovak defence minister led the guard of honour. The guest signed the "Book of Honour".
Col. Gen. Zakir Hasanov welcomed the guests and expressed his pleasure to see them in Azerbaijan. The minister informed the guests about the demining and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories after the victory in the Patriotic War under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev.
The importance of the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovakia in military-technical, military-educational and other spheres was stressed.
Robert Kaliňák expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality. The Slovak defence minister congratulated his Azerbaijani colleague on the restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. He emphasised the importance of studying modern combat operations and developing a mutual exchange of experience with the Azerbaijani Army, which is one of the strongest armies in the region. He underlined the paramount importance of such visits.
The sides concluded by discussing many military issues concerning Azerbaijan and Slovakia.
