Azerbaijan, Slovakia pave way for expanded military-technical cooperation PHOTO
As part of an official visit to Slovakia, a high-ranking Azerbaijani military delegation led by Colonel General Karim Valiyev, First Deputy Minister of Defence and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, visited several key Slovak defence industry enterprises and military training institutions.
The visit underscored the growing interest in enhancing military-technical cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, Caliber.Az reports citing Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry.
During a detailed briefing, the Azerbaijani delegation was acquainted with the operations of various Slovak defence companies, including an overview of weapons systems and military equipment produced by these firms.
Both sides engaged in discussions on the potential expansion of bilateral defence cooperation and exchanged views on strategic issues of mutual interest.
As part of the itinerary, Colonel General Valiyev and his delegation visited the Military Technical and Testing Institute Záhorie, where they were provided with comprehensive information about the institute’s testing capabilities and ongoing research. A demonstration of military hardware and equipment currently in service with the Slovak Armed Forces was also conducted.
The Azerbaijani delegation later proceeded to the Slovak Ministry of Defence’s Training Centre Lešť. There, officials offered insights into the centre’s operational structure and training programs. Briefings were also delivered on the development trajectory of the Slovak Armed Forces, with an emphasis on security cooperation and regional defence initiatives.
