Azerbaijan, Slovenia hold another round of political consultations PHOTO
Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov and Slovenian Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Economic Diplomacy and Development Cooperation Samuel Zbogar have conducted another round of political consultation between the two countries.
The consultations took place as part of Khalafov’s visit to Slovenia on May 3, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Noting that the current political consultations are of key importance in terms of intensifying contacts between Azerbaijan and Slovenia, the parties discussed steps that can be taken to develop bilateral cooperation in various fields and diversify these ties.
The meeting stressed the importance of mobilising joint efforts to further expand the existing friendly ties and cooperation between the two countries.
During the consultations, the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for cooperation, issues of developing cooperation in the trade, economic, humanitarian, energy and investment fields, and organizing mutual visits were discussed.
The importance of maintaining an ongoing political dialogue was stressed. At the same time, the parties touched upon the importance of strengthening interaction between the two countries within the framework of international and regional organisations.
Khalafov informed his colleague about the post-conflict stage and the current situation in the region, the remaining mine threat in the territories liberated from occupation, the restoration and construction work being carried out there, and plans for the further development of the de-occupied territories.
The existing successful cooperation between the Azerbaijani Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) and the Slovenian organization “Improving Human Security ITF”, the prospects for further expansion of these ties were touched upon.
During the visit, Khalafov also held bilateral meetings with Slovenian Presidential Adviser on Foreign Policy Miriam Možgan, Slovenian Presidential Adviser on National Security Nataša Dolenc, Secretary of State for International Affairs of the Slovenian Prime Minister's Office Vojko Volk, Vice President of the Slovenian National Assembly Daniyrl Krivets.
The Slovenian side was informed in detail about the efforts and steps of Azerbaijan towards the implementation of the peace agenda in the South Caucasus region, reconstruction and construction work in the territories liberated from occupation, ongoing projects for the return of refugees to their native lands, the reintegration of the Armenian population of the Karabakh region into the legal, economic and social environment of Azerbaijan.
