Azerbaijan, Somalia discuss regional security, bilateral cooperation
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a phone call with Abdisalam Abdi Ali, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to discuss the escalating military situation in the Middle East and the recent Iranian drone attack on Azerbaijan.
Both ministers emphasised that such attacks threaten Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and regional stability. The Somali side strongly condemned the strikes, and both officials underlined the importance of respecting international law and preventing further escalation that could impact regional and global security, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
The call also focused on the current state and future development of Azerbaijan–Somalia relations, including political dialogue, cooperation within international organisations, and other areas of mutual interest. Somalia’s role as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council was also highlighted as significant for promoting regional and global stability.
