Azerbaijan-Spain Business Forum draws over 90 companies across key sectors
More than 90 companies are participating in the Azerbaijan-Spain Business Forum held in Baku on March 11, marking a significant step in the growing economic ties between the two nations.
Yusif Abdullayev, the executive director of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), shared these details with Caliber.Az's correspondent during the forum highlighing the diverse sectors represented at the event.
“Speaking about our forum, more than 90 companies from the sectors of energy, construction, IT, logistics, investment, infrastructure, and consulting are taking part in it today,” Abdullayev said.
The forum also featured B2G (Business-to-Government) sessions, where Spanish companies had the opportunity to engage with Azerbaijani institutions. These discussions focused on key areas including energy, sustainability, infrastructure, water management, construction, and digitalization.
Abdullayev emphasized that these discussions reflect Azerbaijan’s broader economic vision, which centres on sustainable growth, diversification, and attracting investment.
The Executive Director also highlighted the successful outcome of a recent business delegation visit to Spain. During this visit, meetings were held with leading Spanish companies and institutions, including ICEX, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, and the Madrid Chamber of Commerce. “Within the Madrid Business Forum, Azerbaijan facilitated discussions on expanding trade and investment,” Abdullayev noted.
A key milestone of the visit was the signing of Memoranda of Understanding with both the Spanish and Madrid Chambers of Commerce, which strengthened institutional cooperation between the two countries.
Abdullayev further emphasized that Azerbaijan promoted sectoral partnerships during the visit, coordinating discussions on various infrastructure projects, including transportation and desalination, as well as exploring cooperation in wine production.
The forum also facilitated agreements in defence and engineering, furthering Azerbaijan’s global economic position through the efforts of AZPROMO.
