Azerbaijan, Switzerland explore cooperation on climate, environment
Azerbaijan’s Presidential Representative for Climate Issues, Mukhtar Babayev, has held talks with Katrin Schneeberger, Swiss State Secretary for the Environment, during which the sides reviewed GEF priorities for Central Asia.
Talking on the sidelines of Eco Expo Central Asia 2026 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, the officials focused on the implementation status of ongoing projects financed by the fund, as well as regional environmental and climate-related challenges, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
They also exchanged views on opportunities linked to the upcoming GEF replenishment cycle.
The meeting took place during the 8th Assembly of the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
The talks further covered ways to enhance the efficiency, accessibility, and overall impact of GEF resources in addressing environmental and climate issues across the region.
