Azerbaijan Technical University partners with Defence Industry Ministry for practical training opportunities
A delegation led by Deputy Minister of Defence Industry Hidayat Azimov has visited the Azerbaijan Technical University.
Rector of the university Vilayat Valiyev informed the guests about the educational process designed to train highly qualified engineers who meet the current demands of the labour market, the ministry told Caliber.Az.
Azimov emphasised that the Ministry of Defence Industry has established fruitful cooperation with the Azerbaijan Technical University, which allows students to apply their theoretical knowledge through internships at the ministry's affiliated enterprises.
Since 1991, the institution has been recognized as Azerbaijan Technical University. Currently, it offers bachelor's degrees in 36 specialties across a range of fields, including mechanical engineering, metallurgy, computer science and technology, electrical engineering, telecommunications, transportation, economics. Over 100 master's degree specialisations are available.
The university has faculties dedicated to Transportation and Logistics, Energy and Automation, Metallurgy and Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, Information and Communication Technologies, Economics and Management, and Specialized Engineering and Technology. The university’s scientific contributions are featured in journals such as "Scientific Work" and "Machine Science." It also boasts a library with over 500,000 books, 20 multimedia classrooms equipped with more than 400 personal computers, and specialised laboratories that serve both students and staff.
AzTU maintains strong partnerships with key international organisations, including the UN, UNESCO, TRACECA, and numerous renowned universities worldwide. With modern facilities, its classrooms and labs follow educational plans aligned with the Bologna Process and credit system.
This setup supports over 9,000 undergraduate students and more than 2,000 graduate students in tackling current scientific and technical challenges. The university also plays an active role in addressing economic issues and contributing to social development in Azerbaijan. To date, AzTU has trained over 120,000 engineers with bachelor's and master's degrees across various specialties.
