Azerbaijan, Thailand hold first political consultations between foreign ministries Photo

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov visited Thailand on December 11–12, marking a step forward in bilateral relations between the two countries.

During his visit, Mammadov participated in the first round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Thailand, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The talks concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding. Discussions focused on the current state and prospects of cooperation in political, trade, economic, cultural, and tourism sectors, as well as collaboration on international platforms. 

Mammadov highlighted Azerbaijan’s peaceful agenda, the ongoing demining of territories liberated from occupation, and large-scale reconstruction and restoration projects in these areas.

In meetings with Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, both sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of political relations. Officials noted that the opening of Azerbaijan’s embassy in Bangkok and the launch of these political consultations would further strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors.

Mammadov also met with Wan Muhammadnur Mattha, President of Thailand’s National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The discussions underlined the importance of interparliamentary ties in advancing bilateral relations and recognised the effective cooperation established on multilateral parliamentary platforms.

As part of his visit, Mammadov gave interviews to local television channels and delivered a lecture at the King Prajadhipok Institute, presenting Azerbaijan’s foreign policy priorities.
