Azerbaijan, Thailand strengthen inter-parliamentary ties
Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan, met with Paradorn Prissananantakul, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Thailand, who is in Azerbaijan to attend the 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).
The meeting highlighted the successful organization of the APA plenary session, which has become a key international platform for addressing a wide range of pressing issues, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Press and Public Relations Department of the Parliament.
Both sides agreed that events like the APA session play a crucial role in fostering dialogue and enhancing cooperation among member countries.
The leaders also discussed the strong bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Thailand, with an emphasis on expanding cooperation in various sectors. Gafarova and Prissananantakul noted that parliamentary exchanges could play a key role in deepening ties between the two nations.
Prissananantakul expressed his appreciation for Azerbaijan’s hospitality and congratulated the country on the successful hosting of the APA session. He shared his positive impressions of the visit and underscored the importance of international cooperation.
The conversation also touched on the role of international parliamentary organizations. Gafarova briefed the Deputy Speaker on the activities and initiatives of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, an organization founded at the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev. She emphasized Azerbaijan’s leadership in establishing the Network and strengthening its institutional framework, positioning it as an important platform for global parliamentary cooperation.
The meeting concluded with a broad exchange of views on other topics of mutual interest, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
